I hope everyone had an amazing weekend, I know I did! Why? Because I attended my first event this past Saturday as MSYG's new social media coordinator. It was a tree planting event at Milliken Park and hundreds of people attended, including our group of 30 from MSYG and Discover. It was a day of sweat and hard work, but we all had so much fun in making the community a greener place.
A part of the many people who came out that day
Many of us have never done tree planting before, so a professional came to show us how to do it properly. It all seemed pretty easy just by watching him, but let me tell you, it was a completely different story when we did it ourselves.
Learning how to plant a tree
Milliken Park is a huge park, so there were many trees to be planted. Luckily, a lot of people came out that day so I think we managed to have them all planted.
A small portion of the trees we had to plant
If you asked me, I would say the hardest part of tree planting was digging the first hole. The dirt was very compact, and the shovels seemed to be no match for it. Especially since I didn't know what I was doing at first.
It's not easy digging that hole

A beautiful group photo at the end of the day
We were only able to plant 1-2 trees, but it was such an unforgettable experience nonetheless. My friends and I really enjoyed this event and I'm sure everyone else had a blast as well.
Tree planting was only one of the many events that the Mon Sheong Youth Group and Discover Program have to offer. Be sure to stay tuned on our Facebook Page for upcoming events and our Blog for recaps!
I will see you all soon!
